For those working or studying in computer science surely has heard of these two terms, and server provider, and a lot of times maybe the similarity of expression ends up confusing the real meaning of each term, and for those who already do not know muchwell just end up worse. So I try to explain them the difference between a server and ISP.

Let's start by talking about the server, how can we analyze in our daily lives is increasing the number of companies that end up implementing a network in their offices, because it came from computer networks to facilitate data transmission and communication.
SERVER

A server, as its name implies, is nothing more than a machine responsible for serving a resource on the network, so we conclude that there is a server is then necessary to have a network, and this network is characterized by "network client / server, "because if we have a machine to serve as resources then we have some machine or machines to request these resources on the network. For standard servers with machines turn out to be a security system more demanding, because for many machines with access to an exploited vulnerability may result in expenses for the company and even the loss of confidential information. There are several types of servers, I can point out among them: the file server, DNS server, login server, print server, web server and others.

PROVIDER

Usually we hear of provider when the subject is related to the internet, for then, a provider is the company responsible for user authentication on the Internet, or through the provider is that we users have Internet access. I will use a practical example and certainly common for many.

How many of us use the Internet "dial up"? In Brazil termed "dial up" the internet by dial up works as follows:

We have one telephone line at home and a computer and an account with an ISP (Internet Service Provider - Internet Service Provider Serviçoes), the ISP is nothing more than the provider itself, in our example we will assume that our ISP is Ebonet usually ISPs charge a fee for his service in Angola I remember that even when I used was in the range 30 to 40 dollars, but today there are companies that do not charge anything for this service, they use this method as a trade policy in Angola I think we do not have a free ISP. Once created the account, the ISP provides us with a username, a password and a phone number. When we got home we set up a computer to dial up and insert the username password and phone number assigned by the provider (ISP), done that takes a few seconds and it will be connected to the Internet.

What actually happens is that the provider as I have said is responsible for user authentication on the Internet, so after we created the account to have a record on the server of our provider (do not forget that in this case the server is a machine responsible for authenticating users), when we click on connect to our computer, we are actually making a call to our provider, after reviewing our name and password are correct, then the provider gives us access to the internet. We conclude then that the service provider (ISP) is a kind of intermediary between our computers and the Internet, or need to go through it to have internet access. The same procedure happens with ADSL internet system, but in this case no longer have to put the username and password because they are already configured on the modem the internet, and that keeps us connected 24 / 24.
A Service Provider is a company previously approved and certified through a contract with the Registro.br, for the registration and maintenance of domain entities and may be made through a specific interface. Service Providers may or may not offer bundled services to domain name registration. Customers of Service Providers can only register new domains or change the data fields and existing entities through its Service Provider, in which case, the system Registro.br only allow the visualization of data domains and / or entities , if these contacts.

Since the hosting provider is a company that offers hosting services and web sites may also offer its customers the added domain registration services. This provider has no formal ties with the Registro.br and your customers can directly interact with the system Registro.br to update data from their fields and entities, subject to these contacts.

These two definitions are used only as naming the files relating to the services of Registro.br
Good

will be short and thick at the explanation:
Suppose we build a site with the name of lojas.com.br, and we will use the provider RedeHost, keep these names, and look below:
Provider (Domain): If our site is on the web, your files need to be in a computer, which we call "web server", and this, we pay RedeHost (ISP) for them to store our files on your server. < br> Registration: In order to use the name of lojas.com.br, need to pay this record annually, and pay for Registro.br.
